Participating schools from Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, and Sikkim will compete for the opportunity to qualify for the CBSE National Championship.

Dear Sir / Madam,

On behalf of the Management, Principal, and teaching staff of Our ABC Academy, Tinsukia, we extend a warm and cordial invitation to your esteemed school to participate in the CBSE Far East Zone Cluster I Kho Kho Championship 2026–27 (Girls), being hosted by Our ABC Academy as the official host institution designated by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.

The championship will be conducted strictly in accordance with the CBSE Sports and Games guidelines, the Kho Kho Federation of India (KFOI) rules, and the standard CBSE cluster tournament format applicable for the academic year 2026–27. The results of this Cluster competition shall determine the qualifying teams for the CBSE Far East Zone Championship, from which the CBSE National Kho Kho Championship qualifier will be drawn.

Important:  Schools must complete their entry on the CBSE Student Sports Portal (cbsesports.nic.in) before the CBSE-notified deadline. This invitation is supplementary and does not substitute the mandatory portal entry. Age is reckoned as on 31 December 2025 per CBSE norms. The categories for this event are: Sub-Junior (Under-14) · Junior (Under-17) · Senior (Under-19) — Girls only.

Each participating school may enter one team per age category. A team shall consist of a maximum of 12 players and a maximum of 2 officials (one coach and one manager). Players’ identity documents (school identity card or bonafide certificate) and original age proof (Aadhaar card or birth certificate) are mandatory at check-in on 12 July 2026. No player will be permitted to participate without valid, verified documentation.

Schools are responsible for their own travel arrangements. The host school will provide basic accommodation on a sharing basis for outstation teams. The host school also undertakes to provide:

Age cutoff: Age is calculated as on 31 December 2025 per CBSE norms. A player born on or after 1 January 2012 is eligible for Sub-Junior (U-14); on or after 1 January 2009 for Junior (U-17); on or after 1 January 2007 for Senior (U-19). No player born before the respective cutoff date may participate. Any violation will result in immediate disqualification of the team from that category.

All timings are provisional and subject to change based on the number of registered teams. Final fixture schedule will be issued after the 30 June 2026 entry deadline and circulated to all participating schools. Each match shall be of 28 minutes duration (two innings of 9 minutes each, with 5 minutes between innings), as per Kho Kho Federation of India rules.

Tournament Rules & Regulations

ATournament Format

A.01
FormatLeague + Knockout. All teams in each category play in a round-robin league stage; the top teams from each group advance to quarter-finals or semi-finals depending on entry numbers.
A.02
Match DurationEach match consists of two innings of 9 minutes each (18 minutes of play), with a 5-minute interval between innings. Total duration per match: approximately 28 minutes.
A.03
ScoringOne point per player touched out. Innings total determines match winner. In the event of a tie at the end of regular time, a Super Innings of 4 minutes per side shall be played to determine the winner.
A.04
League PointsWin: 2 points · Draw: 1 point · Loss: 0 points. Tiebreaker: match points → run-rate → direct encounter → coin toss (in that order).
A.05
Ground & EquipmentThe playing area shall measure 29m × 16m (standard Kho Kho court) with a free-zone of 1.5m on all sides. Equipment (poles, cones, bibs) provided by host school. Teams must wear their own school sports kit.
A.06
OfficialsEach match officiated by two certified referees nominated by the host school / CBSE. Referee's decision is final. Disputes must be raised by the team manager in writing within 5 minutes of the match conclusion.

BGame Rules (Kho Kho)

B.01
Team Composition9 players on the field per side (8 chasers seated in the central lane, 1 active chaser). Up to 3 substitutes from a squad of 12. All substitutions must be declared before the match begins.
B.02
Kho GivingA chaser may give a Kho to a seated co-player who is facing in the direction of flight. The active chaser must be behind the sitting player and touch them on the back while saying "KHO" clearly. No Kho may be given across the post.
B.03
TouchersA runner is out when touched by the active chaser with any part of the hand except the fist, provided the chaser has not crossed the central lane. Touch must be unambiguous; if disputed, the referee's ruling is final.
B.04
Foul Play by ChasersIt is a foul to: cross the central lane; move in the wrong direction without a Kho; obstruct runners. Fouls result in a penalty: the active runner may enter the free zone for 5 seconds.
B.05
Foul Play by RunnersIt is a foul for a runner to obstruct chasers or seated players. Persistent fouling shall result in a caution; a second caution in dismissal. The referee may also declare a runner out for intentional time-wasting.
B.06
KFOI Rules ApplyAll rules of the Kho Kho Federation of India (latest edition) apply where not explicitly addressed by these tournament regulations. In case of conflict, the Tournament Referee has final authority.

Protests and Decisions: Any protest must be lodged in writing by the team manager to the Tournament Director within 5 minutes of the conclusion of the relevant match or incident. Protests submitted after this window will not be entertained. The Tournament Director's decision on all protests is final and binding. No electronic devices (phones, tablets) are permitted on the playing area during matches.

C.01
CBSE Affiliation MandatoryOnly schools affiliated to CBSE and belonging to the Far East Zone Cluster I are eligible to participate. Schools must be in good standing with CBSE (no pending disciplinary action).
C.02
Prior CBSE Portal EntryEntry on the CBSE Student Sports Portal (cbsesports.nic.in) is mandatory before participation. Entries on this page are supplementary logistics data only and do not constitute official registration.
C.03
One Team Per CategoryEach school may enter one team per age category (Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior). A school cannot field players across categories beyond their age eligibility in the same tournament cycle.
C.04
Official RepresentativeEach school must nominate one team manager who is a full-time teacher of the school. The manager is the official liaison with the host school and Tournament Director throughout the event.

DPlayer Eligibility

D.01
Current StudentAll players must be currently enrolled full-time students of the school they represent. Students who have completed Class XII or whose school-leaving date precedes the tournament dates are not eligible.
D.02
Age ProofOriginal Aadhaar card or birth certificate is mandatory. Age as on 31 December 2025 determines eligibility. No alternative documentation accepted. No exemptions granted.
D.03
School IdentityValid school identity card or bonafide certificate issued for the current academic year (2026–27) must be produced at check-in. Players without valid identity will not be permitted to play.
D.04
Medical FitnessAll players are expected to be medically fit to participate. The host school's first-aid facility will not treat pre-existing conditions. Players with known medical conditions should carry their own medication.
D.05
Prohibited PlayerAny player found to have submitted false age proof, identity, or who is not a bonafide student of the school shall be immediately disqualified, along with the team in that category. The school may face CBSE disciplinary action.

Code of Conduct

How we expect everyone to behave.

EPlayers & Officials

E.01
RespectAll players, coaches, managers, referees, and host-school staff are to be treated with respect at all times. No abusive language, threatening gestures, or physical confrontation will be tolerated.
E.02
Uniform & KitTeams must wear a clearly identified school sports kit. Jewellery (rings, chains, earrings) is not permitted on the field. Hair must be tied back. Footwear: sports shoes or bare feet — no sandals or heeled footwear.
E.03
PunctualityTeams must report to the ground at least 15 minutes before their scheduled match. A team not ready at the scheduled start time shall receive a 5-minute grace period; thereafter, the match may be awarded to the opponent.
E.04
DevicesMobile phones, smart watches, and electronic devices are not permitted on the playing surface during matches. Players found with devices during play will be cautioned on first offence and disqualified on repeat.

FHost School Obligations

F.01
Playing AreaThe host school undertakes to provide a regulation Kho Kho court (29m × 16m) with free zone, marked clearly on a flat, safe surface. The ground shall be inspected the evening before competition begins.
F.02
Safety & MedicalA first-aid facility with trained staff shall be available throughout all match days. In the event of a serious injury, the host school will facilitate emergency transport to the nearest hospital (Tinsukia Civil Hospital, 3 km).
F.03
Meals & WaterLunch is provided on all three match days for players and registered officials. Drinking water is available throughout. Any specific dietary requirements must be declared on the entry form no later than 30 June 2026.
F.04
Changing FacilitiesSeparate changing rooms and sanitation facilities for visiting players will be provided. Teams are responsible for the security of their own valuables; the host school does not accept liability for lost or stolen items.
