House System &
Leadership.
Four houses. Year-round competition. One champion each March.
Four names, one purpose.
Named after Sukladhwaj (Chilarai), the great Kamatapur general — younger brother of King Nara Narayan of the Koch dynasty. A military commander of extraordinary skill, known for lightning campaigns across the subcontinent. Chilarai represents speed, precision, and fearless leadership.
Named after Lachit Borphukan, Commander-in-Chief of the Ahom forces and hero of the Battle of Saraighat (1671). He defeated the Mughal army of Ram Singh despite being gravely ill — famously rising from his sickbed to lead the counterattack. Lachit represents courage, duty, and sacrifice. Best House 2024–25.
Named after the Lohit River — the great river of eastern Assam, born in the Tibetan plateau, flowing through Arunachal Pradesh and into the Brahmaputra. The Lohit is ancient, powerful, and life-giving. Lohit House represents endurance, depth, and the vitality of the natural world.
Named after Udaygiri, the historic hill fortress of the Koch kingdom in present-day West Bengal. A centre of learning, culture, and resistance. Udaygiri House represents knowledge, culture, and the ambition to rise — as the rising sun from the eastern hills.
Points, trophies, one champion.
Each house competes across four domains throughout the year: Sports, Academics, Arts & Culture, and Discipline & Conduct. Points are awarded at each event, aggregated at the end of each term, and the final tally determines the Best House of the Year — announced at the Annual Prize Distribution in March.
Every student belongs to a house from their first day at the school. House colours are worn on the games uniform. House captains and vice-captains are elected by fellow students of their wing, and they lead their house across all events.
Academic performance (class tests, board results), sports events, cultural events, cleanliness inspections, and conduct. Negative points for disciplinary infractions.
House Captains & Prefects.
Each house has a Captain and Vice-Captain elected by the students of that house. Elections are held in April, at the start of each academic year. Any student of Class IX (for Vice-Captain) or Class XI (for Captain) who has been at the school for at least one year is eligible to stand.
The Head Boy and Head Girl of the school are elected from among the four house captains, by a vote of the entire student body of Class IX–XII. Their term runs for one full academic year.
Student leadership is real responsibility here — house captains run the morning assembly on rotation, represent their house in discussions with the Principal, and are expected to set visible examples of conduct and effort.
Class XI student, elected by their house. 1-year term. Leads all house activities, represents the house in school events, and speaks at assemblies.
Class IX student, elected by their house. Works with the Captain and takes over when needed. Training ground for the following year.
Elected from the four captains by students of Class IX–XII. The two most senior student leaders of the school.
